비상(飛翔)이미지의 조형연구 : 염색 작품을 중심으로 = Research on Soaring image in my work In dyeing technique

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인간의 삶은 자연과 상호 떨어질 수 없는 관계이며, 자연은 인간의 끊임없는 관찰과 표현의 대상으로 존재하여 왔다. 이러한 자연을 표현하기 위한 노력은 우리가 갖고 있는 예술문화를 통해 심미적, 미적 효과에 대한 조형탐구로 시대적 배경과 환경에 따라 다양한 형식으로 변화하였으며, 이제는 그 영역이 확대되어 자기 표현의 실험성을 관념이나 작가의 조형의지에 따른 새로운 조형세계를 보여주고 있다.
본 연구자의 삶의 내면에 존재한 자유의지는 '난다(flying)' 는 행위에 대한 낭만적이고 환상적인 꿈으로부터 시작하고 행위가 주는 자유의 의미가 주어진 공간 속에서 이상향을 향한 순수함과 동경을 느끼게 해주는 날개의 이미지로 형상화해 가는 과정을 제시하였다.
날개는 조형의 소재로 인간에게는 한번쯤 날고자 하는 동심의 세계를 가지고 있으며, 미지의 세계에 대한 도전과 자유로움을 갈구하는 인간에게 내면세계에서 이루고자 하는 자유의지로 허공에서의 관조(觀照)와 자적(自適)의 여유로움이 내포(內包)되어 있기도 하다.
본 연구에서는 생태계의 순환 속에서 인간의 상승하고자 하는 욕구와 수많은 규범과 규제들로부터 벗어나고자 하는 의식적, 무의식적인 자유의지를 '날개'이미지에서 발견하고자 하였다.
본 작업에서는 '날개'의 조형화에 있어 날개의 구체적 형태의 탐구가 아닌 날개에 내재된 이미지를 통해서 본인의 내면세계를 표현하고자 하였다.
이러한 '날개'의 이미지를 조형화하기 위하여 나비의 '날개'로부터 받은 인상 및 인식되어진 이미지 즉, 순환(順換)과 일탈(逸脫), 소통(疏通)과 단절, 섬세 와 화려함을 실체화하려고 시도하였고 기법에 있어서도 '날개'가 갖는 형의 아름다움과 신비로움, 온화함을 바틱(Batik), 마블링(Marbling), 실크스크린(Silk-Screen)기법으로 표현하여 '날개'의 이미지를 새로운 형태로 재구성해보았다. 공간에서 느껴지는 '날개'의 무한한 자연스러움, 동경, 그리고 비상의 이미지를 나 자신과 동일시하여 현실 제약으로부터의 초월과 극복, 자유를 연결시켜주는 매개체로 전개시켰다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As nature is inseparable from the life of human being, it has been a ceaseless subject for our observation and expression. Such effort to represent nature has developed various forms in art, through the pursuit of the aesthetic and style, in parallel with the relevant historic context and environment. The range of forms are extended to show new art forms in which experimental self-expression is lead by the subjectivity and styles of the artist.
The free will that exists inside my life starts from a romantic and fantastic dream of 'flying'. I explored the process of shaping the connotation of freedom in 'flying', employing the image of wings which bring the sense of pure nostalgia for utopia in the space.
Wings, as a subject, involve the world of childlike mind in which most human being dreams to soar. They are the free will to establish in inner world of a person who longs for freedom and the challenge for unknown world, connoting placidity of contemplation and complacency in the space. In this research, out of the image of wings, I suggest to discover human desire for rising high in the cycle of ecosystem and the conscious and unconscious free will to free oneself from countless regulations and restrictions.
In my works, I tried to express my inner world through the immanent connotation of wings, rather than studying structural form of them.
In order to visualize this notion of 'wings', I tried to substantialize the impressions from the wings of butterfly, which are circulation, deviation, communication, isolation, delicateness and splendor. In attempt to express the beauty, mysteriousness and gentleness of 'wings', I employed Batik, Marbling and Silk-screen technique to reconstruct them into new forms. The notions of soaring, nostalgia, infinite naturalness of wings in space are identified with myself. And they developed into a medium which connects freedom, transcendence, and surmounting the limitation of the reality.
