The present study examines how the audience’s kinesphere changes as a result of the space organized in a promenade-style performance. A promenade-style performance’s notable feature is that audience members can walk around while watching the performance. The audience can freely choose the space from which they want to watch a performance, and the performance is sometimes organized in a way that encourages the audience to find and understand its narrative by themselves. What should not be overlooked in this type of promenade theater is space. The way a space is organized can limit the space where people can move around, and by doing so, the author encourages the audience to move naturally in the limited space to understand and immerse themselves in the original intention of their performance. The present study investigates the creation process of Play Bauhaus, a performance linked to the exhibition Bauhaus Human-Space-Machine, co-hosted by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Bauhaus Dessau foundation, and examines how the audience’s kinesphere changes according to the organization of a space.
