인문,사회과학편 : 한국사회에서 운동중독의 사회문화적 함의 = Socio-cultural implications of exercise addiction in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 왜 오늘날 한국사회에서 운동중독 현상이 포착되는가를 경제와 정치 등의 사회문화적 설명력을 동원하여 분석하고자 하였다. 따라서 운동중독의 사회문화적 함의를 다음과 같이 추론하였다. 첫째, 운동중독은 경제적 안정화에 수반된 적극적 행위이다. 즉 운동중독은 경제력의 안정화에 수반된 현대인의 적극적 행위로써 건강이 강조되는 시대의 신념과 합치되면서 나타난 삶의 방식이다. 둘째, 강제적 정치에 의한 억압의 내면화이다. 즉 운동에 매력을 느끼고 중독현상까지 몰입되는 것은 강제적 정치 지배방식의 합리화 과정에서 ‘제도적 강제’뿐만 아니라 ‘개인적 강제’에 익숙해진 우리의 내재적 속성에 기인한다. 셋째, 계급 간 문화적 정체성의 공유이다. 한국사회에서 1997년 이후의 노동시장 구조변화로부터 제기된 불합리한 경제적 환경은 계층 간의 취향과 생활방식이 공유되는 환경을 구축시켜 운동중독이 확산되었을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was to analyze the causes of the phenomenon of physical exercise addiction in Korean society from the socio-cultural perspective including the aspects of economy and politics, and summarizes the social and cultural implications of physical exercise addiction as follows. First, exercise addiction is an active act accompanying economic stability. As an activity of people in contemporary society, exercise addiction is a life style that has emerged as it corresponds with one of the current ideas that emphasizes the health. Second, it is an internalization of forceful political oppression. That is, people become attracted to exercising and drive themselves to the extend where they become addicted to it is attributed to Koreans' internal character that people are accustomed to not only "institutional coercion" but also "individual coercion" from the justification process of the coercive political government system. Third, it is the sharing of cultural identity between classes. An unreasonable economic situation resulted from the structural changes of the labor market since 1997 can be seem as establishing an environment where people share their tastes and lifestyles instead of differentiate them. In other words, and opportunity was presented to transfer middle-class cultural identity to the working class, which has spread exercise addiction derived from an interest in health sports.
