This paper studies vegetable during the pre-Qin (先秦) in China, and it was considered and divided into acquisition methods, eating methods and application. In addition, this paper examined and divided the acquisition methods into collection of wild vegetables and cultivation of crops. In this process, it was confirmed that the collection of wild vegetables was related to the origin of agriculture in the pre-Qin Dynasty. The cultivation of crops was connected with the supply of vegetables for the royal family and nobility in the Zhou Dynasty (周朝) during the pre-Qin period. In addition to this, private cultivation of crops was carried out in small scale. The eating methods were considered and divided into boiling, pickling, soup and seasoning, and the application of vegetable was examined and divided into side dish, famine relief, offering of sacrifices to gods or ancestors and banquet. In particular, the vegetables used for offering of sacrifices to gods or ancestors and banquet developed a food culture in China.
