한국농악의 흐름과 청주농악의 과제 = A Flow in Korea’s Nongak and a Task in Cheongju Nongak

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Abstract Cheongju Nongak(Cheongju farm music) was transmitted in many forms such as Geolripgut(Gosagut) in the beginning of January, Duregut(performance for villagers’ unity) in summer, and Meoseumgut for Baekjung(百中, a Korean holiday to mark a summer break from farming). But only the Nongak performance is being passed down now. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the development in Cheongju Nongak. The following conclusions were elicited by examining a characteristic, a transmission aspect and a future task in Cheongju Nongak. First, even Cheongju Nongak needs to have new competitiveness through positive application without keeping just its original form at that time of designating intangible cultural asset. Second, there is a need to designate an individual as the holder of Nongak entertainment with recognizing the importance of Dure Nongak, and to designate and preserve through dividing even other agricultural rites such as ‘Dure’ and ‘Homigeori(the hoe washing and hanging rite).’ Third, Cheongju Nongak was the blessing & elaboration Nongak, but is being transformed into the professional performance Nongak. Thus, the true identity should be concerned. Fourth, Cheongju Nongak lost its focus after the death of Lee Jong-hwan who is the first entertainer, thereby suffering difficulty of transmission. Hence, the designation of an entertainer is imminent. Fifth, Cheongju Nongak will need to be established a strategy for transmission by analyzing internal environment and external environment in an effort for cultural merchandising beyond keeping the original form.
