This study aims to analysis the trend in the urban park creation of abandoned and unused facilities in the modern industrialization. The research method was conducted through content analysis focusing on newspaper 1,895 articles and 265 papers. As a result of the study, related terms could be interpreted in relation to ‘functionality’, ‘placenness and historic’, and ‘environmental pollution’. The trend could be divided into four periods. Prior to the 1980s, discussions on idle sites were conducted as a stage of recognition. The 1980s and 1990s were the period for policyization, and the governments established specific policies. In the 1990s, the policy was implemented and major urban parks were created. Since the 2000s, the park has been diversified and various parks have been created. There was some discussion about the Korea and US military bases due to the special situation of Korea. In fact, environmental infrastructure (water purification plant, landfill site, reservoir, etc.) was the most common for the urban park since the 2010s. This study is meaningful in understanding the process of changes in the past by analyzing the trend of park creation in the modern industrialization.
