Generally, the foundations of the structures which withstand the external tension are very heavy and large. When the foundation is constructed in the weak layer such as silt or clay, the bearing capacity of the ground is not enough to sustain the load of the foundation and settlement may cause to damage the structure.
Instead of the heavy and large foundation, it can be useful to use anchor in order to solve the above-mentioned problems. Several relationships to entimate the uplift capacity of the anchor are mentioned in this report.
The relationships are compared with the other relationships. The types of factors used to calculate the uplift capacity of the anchor are mentioned and analyzed. The breakout factors calculated by the relationship in this report are plotted against the depth ratio.
