인터넷조사방법론의 가능성과 쟁점 - 행정학회회원들에 대한 설문조사결과를 토대로 = The Potential of Internet Surveys - Survey Findings

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 최근 인터넷을 활용한 설문조사가 시도되고 있는 현실 속에서 인터넷조사법이 하나의 설문조사방법론으로서 가능한자 그리고 그에 따른 쟁점이 무엇인지를 파악하고자 하였다. 행정학회회원 86명에 대한 우편설문조사 결과, 인터넷조사법을 기존의 다양한 조사법고 같이 `여러 방법 가운데 하나`에 불과한 것으로 인식하는 것으로 보인다. 따라서 인터넷조사법이 `하나의`유용한 설문조사방법으로서 타당성과 신뢰성을 확보되기 위해서는 무엇보다도 설문조사의 `절차적` 측면보다는 `실체적` 문제점에 대한 해소방안을 고려할 필요가 있고, 인터넷조사를 위한 정보기술 등의 기술적 측면보다는 피조사자의 입장에서 이의 활용측면에 대한 고려가 필요할 것으로 보인다. 본 연구 결과 인터넷조사법에 있어서는 표본추출과 관련된 쟁점들에 대한 고려가 특히 중요하다고 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The authors raise the question of whether internet survey methods are viable in public administration research, given their increasing use as a major survey method, and discuss the obvious and less-obvious potential methodological issues associated with their utilization. Based upon survey data obtained from 86 KAPA (Korean Association of Public Administration) members, they find that the internet survey is just one method of public administration research. The survey findings suggest that it is the substantive, not procedural, issues that determine the validity and reliability of internet surveys. It is also suggested that researchers using an internet survey method take into account several IT utilization issues on the part of survey respondents. Special emphasis is placed on issues related to sampling.
