The original plan of the easy was to excerot, arrange, and classify vocabularies in 580 works of sijo form Cheong Koo Yung Eun in thirteen categories, and to study the structure of life and thought shared by people described in Cheong Koo Woung Eun for about 350 years, from the end of Koryo Dynasty when the oldest sijo was produced, to the beginning of the Young regime during Rhee Dynasty when Kim Cheon Taik complied Cheging Koo Young Eun.
As the first installment for the complete study plan, the results of study in three fields……food, clothing and shelter……were presented in the essay.
In the works of 580 sijo in Cheoisg Koo Young Eun, vocabularies about food, clothing and shelter are used infrequently, and so their distribution is minor in comparison with vocabularies covering other subjects.
The indication in Cheong Koo Young Eun, is that food, clothing and shelter were of no consequence to people.
The places where people described in Cheong Koo Young Eun lived were not the capital, or political centers of the nation, but were beautiful villages in rural hills and riversides. The works of kings, members of king's families, and senior statesmen appear in Cheong Koo Young Eun; most of them are by writers no longer in office.
Cheong Koo Young Eun reveals that our people have lived humble circumstances. In spite of these circumstances, people in Cheong Koo Young Eun were indifferent to honor, fame and wealth : in the three fields of food, clothing:and shelter the people lived zestfully, a trait which can hardly he found in other races.
