Revivalistics, Wellbeing and Talknology: Insights from Australia

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper introduces the readers to revivalistics, a new trans-disciplinary field of enquiry surrounding language reclamation, revitalization and reinvigoration. It explores the moral/ethical, aesthetic, epistemological, cognitive, psychological and economic benefits of language revival and diversity. With coca-colonization and homogenization there will be more and more groups added to the forlorn club of the lost-heritage peoples. Language reclamation, revitalization and reinvigoration will become increasingly relevant as people seek to recover their cultural autonomy, empower their spiritual and intellectual sovereignty, and improve their wellbeing and mental health. For me, the deontological reason for language reclamation is sufficient:these human languages deserve to be present again, following linguicide that caused their absence.
