Netflix’s entry to the Koreanmedia market has made big changes in various ways. This study explores howthe Korean media market has been impacted since Netflix had come to the market. For the content market, this study focused both on the revenue and the amount of exports of two types of contents(broadcast content and film), production costs, the number of production firms, their revenue and their amount of exports, repectively. For the media platform market, this study paid attention to the volume of content provided via broadcast, payTV, and OTT, the revenue of pay TV VOD service and its advertising revenue, repectively. Dividing a period of last 10 years into two, i.e., a pre-Netflix era and a post-Netflix era, this study compared the average annual growth rate of each variable between two eras. The results showed that both the revenue and the amount of exports of broadcast content and filmincreasedmore rapidly after Netflix’s entry. In the post-Netflix era, the volume of content provided via broadcast and payTVwas decreasingwhile that of the OTT platformwas increasing. The revenue of pay TV VOD service and its advertising revenue plummeted after Netflix’s entry. If this trend continues, then the extent to which the production sector, especially production firms depends onNetflixwould increase. Consequently thewell-designed policies to defense this situationwould be needed.
