국제이주와 한국의 다문화현상에 대한 고찰: 결혼이주여성을 중심으로 = A Study on International Immigration and Multi-cultural Phenomenon in Korea : Focused on Marriage Immigrant Women

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the study is to analyze multi-cultural phenomenon in Korea focused on marriage immigrant women who are in special situation of ‘immigration’ and ‘marriage.’ Korean multi-cultural policy is being implemented as part of stability and integration, co-existence and communication between increasing immigrants and Koreans. The policy is focused on marriage immigrant women. According to patriarchal system, marriage immigrant women are mainly managed as a group who can solve a crisis of low birth and aging society as a mother and a member of a Korean family. And they share daily lives with us but they are not mainstream of Korean society and exist as a marginal person because there is still strong recognition that they are foreigners different from Koreans in outer appearance based on consciousness of homogeneous society. Accordingly, realistic multi-cultural policy is needed so that marriage immigrant women can actively adapt to Korean society and play a role as a member of a community.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 ‘이주’와 ‘결혼’이라는 특수한 상황에 처해 있는 결혼이주여성을 중심으로 한국의 다문화현상을 분석하는 데 있다. 늘어나는 이주민과 내국인과의 안정과 통합, 공존과 소통을 위한 차원에서 실시되고 있는 한국의 다문화정책은 결혼이주여성을 주요 대상으로 한다. 결혼이주여성은 부계혈통중심주의에 따라 한국인의 아이를 낳고 한국 가족의 구성원으로서 저출산․고령화사회의 위기를 해결해 줄 대상으로 관리되고 있는 측면이 강하다. 또한 우리와 일상을 공유하지만 여전히 단일민족의식을 바탕으로 외모가 다른 외국인이라는 인식이 강해 우리 사회의 주류로 편입되지 못하고 타자화된 주변인의 모습으로 존재한다. 따라서 이 연구는 현재 한국의 다문화 정책 추진 과정에 나타난 여러 현상들을 구체적으로 분석하면서 결혼이주여성이 능동적으로 한국사회에 적응하고 공동체의 구성원으로서 역할을 할 수 있는 현실적인 정책이 필요하다는 점을 강조하고자 했다.
