The way of recognizing the existing things in the East is to see the things as they are. The East thinks that everything exists not by being created by something, but by being naturally, even without the beginning of it. It isn't important for the East from where it comes or to where it goes. How things are created and perished isn't important for them, neither.
What the East is interested in is how the thing becomes to be, and, above all, the human life itself. The problem is how he has to live. Where he comes from or goes to is not the focus of their interest. Therefore realistic life of human being is valued above everything else, while the next world is considered as meaningless.
Not only Confucian and Taoist but also Buddhism regard the realities of human life as most important. In particular, Confucian sets a high value on human duties and makes a person attain a stage of “the union of Heaven and man" through a moral life. Taoist aims to get a man reach a stage of "the union of the nature and man” by making him dismiss the selfish desire and thus keep the pure mind. Buddhism aims to make a man to attain a stage of spiritual enlightenment by making him give up the human desire, and thus restore the pure nature which had essentially been in the human mind.
Therefore it can be concluded that the view of life in the East emphasizes the restoration of the pure nature in human mind as well as the effort to keep such a nature by getting rid of the human desire.
