Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate factors influencing quality of life on head and neck cancer patients after surgery. Method: The subjects were sixty head and neck cancer patients who were hospitalized after surgery or visited outpatient clepartment for postoperatire follow-up at a university hospital between May 15th and July 26th in 2005. The instruments used in the study were WHOQOL-BREF, FSH & N-SR and CES-D. The data were analyzed with the SPSS program by using the t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé-test, and multiple regression. Result: The score of head and neck cancer patient's quality of life was 69.92±11.96. The scores of Quality of life showed significant differences according to age, gender, and diagnosis. An influencing factor on Quality of life of head and neck cancer was functional status. Conclusion: The factors such as age, gender, diagnosis, and functional status should be considered when planning nursing intervention to improve quality of life in head and neck cancer patients after surgery.
