Based on the results, provide the policy plan to improve the social value of the local food business. The major findings are as follows. First, "local food" is defined as agricultural products to that are produced, distributed, and consumed without going through a multistage distribution process within a certain city or county. Second, "social value" is defined as societal, environmental, and economical utilities that can be obtained through various activities and results. Third, “The social value of the local food business” is defined as the societal, environmental, and economical utility gained by producing, distributing, and consuming local food. The social value index of the local food business can be used as a means of objectively evaluating actual levels and provides policy implications. Therefore, it is possible to establish a local food support policy that meets the requirements and characteristics according to regions and period. As a result, hope that this study can contribute to future operations/revitalization, and re-examination of direction by sharing the social value of local food business with producers, consumers, local food store operator, local governments, and the government.
This study proposes future research issues as follows. First, It is required to actively collect/standardize and manage local food data in public institutions such as central ministries and local governments before establishing a local food policy. Second, studies in various ways are needed after overcoming the limitations of data collection. It will help improve the quantity and quality of local food in the future by evaluating the index for the wide area and all over the country. Third, It is necessary to develop additional detailed evaluation indicators to complement social value index of this study. Various detailed indicators can be constructed supplemented with data required by the government after the spread of government policy and the progress of the project. Using more data, it will be capable of rich and clear level evaluation of the social value of the local food business than now.
