      In this study, SiC whiskers were grown on a porous SiC diesel particulate filter (DPF) for nano-particle nanoparticle filtering. To grow the whiskers at the inner pore without closing the pores, This we experiment was performed by used chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) process, using with a solution source and a dilute gas in order to grow the whiskers at inner pore without closing the pores. As the deposition time increased, the whiskers grew and formed a the networking structure by whiskers was formed and the growth of whiskers increased. After 180 minutes of deposition, The the mean diameter of the whiskers was 174 nm and the compressive strength was 58.4 MPa after 180 minutes deposition. The pores size decreasedshrank from 10 m to 0.4 m and, because the whiskers filled the inner pores , the gradient of permeability also decreased with increasing as the deposition time increased since the whiskers filled inner pores. However, by using the network structure of whiskers deposited for 120 minutes and 180 minutes, we obtained the a diesel particulate filter DPF body with pores of 0.9 m and 0.4 m, respectively. pore size using networking structure of whisker deposited for 120 minutes and 180 minutes and Furthermore, the this body filter showed shows a better permeability compared to than the a porous body with pores of 1 m . pore size. This study showed the advantage of networking In short, by filtering the nanoparticulate materials, the network structure by of whiskers in order to filter the nano-particulate materials with improved improves the strength, reduced reduces the pore size and minimized minimizes the permeability drop.
