한국어문화교육을 위한 속담 교육 연구 : 인도인 한국어 학습자를 중심으로 = (A)study of Korean proverb education for the Korean language and culture education : focusing on Indian learner of Korean language

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this study is to present an effective teaching method of Korean proverbs in the prospect of Korean language and culture education for the Indian learner of Korean language. A better understanding and proper use of the Korean proverbs not only helps to learn Korean language effectivily but play an imprortant role to learn about korean culture. Proverbs reflect the characterstics of a nation, It has been passed from generation to generation, contains a general piece of wisdom, truth, morals and traditional views, as a mirror Its reflects the thought of citizens and the socio- cultural aspects of the nation at that time. Therefore, this study has provided a model on what proverbs should be taught and how learners can understand Korean proverbs effectively as well as easily.The content of this study can briefly summarized by the following chapters.
Chapter 1 introduces the aim and methods of the study and performs literature review to find out the status of proverbs education in the field of Korean language education. The result revealed that there are many studies available regarding the importance of proverbs in the Korean language teaching and in the field of comparison study of Chinese, Vietnamies, English proverbs etc with Korean proverbs but, no study was found on the method of Korean proverbs teaching for the Indian learners of Korean language.So this sttudy has a purpose to search efficient and systemetic teaching method on proverbs for Indian learners of Korean language.
Chapter 2 examines the theoritical background which explains the concepts and characterstics of the proverbs and presents the importance of proverbs in Korean language education in prospects of communication, culture, intercultural and vocabulary teaching.
In chapter 3 I examines the present status of Korean proverbs by analyzing Korean language text book used by various universities in Korea and University of Delhi and some other proverbs teaching books and also TOPIK exam pattern since their inception. As a result I found out there characteristics and problems and finally I collected the list of 64 proverbs which are used repeatedly in the text books and TOPIK more than thrice. On the basis of analytical contents the listing and instruction of proverbs in Korean language materials were presented.
In chapter 4 I examined the selection and arrangment of the educational use of proverbs on the basis of frequency and understanding level. First I collected the list of proverbs based on the frequency of their use in Korean language materials such as text books used by many Korean language education institutes in Korea and India and I also analyzed the question patterns from 1~15 times Test of Proficiency in Korean Langugae. After selecting proverbs list, I confirmed and compare this list with other previous studies. In selecting and arranging the lists, I applied many different criteria including the frequency of the use of proverbs, comparison and contrast between Korean and Hindi proverbs, and surveyed to measure their understanding level of prover thorugh native Korean language instructors.
Secondly, for classifying this list according to the students understading level first I Compared the difference and the similarities between Hindi and Korean proverbs in the aspect of social and culture view of the both nations. The classification were made for the proverbs of Korean and Hindi into those proverbs with the same meaning and same expression, those with the same meaning but different expressions, and those who only exits in Korean laguage . This classification was based on Clifford Prator (1967) pattern of comaparative analysis study method. And in the next procedure I did a survey to measure their understanding level of proverbs thorugh native Korean language instructros. And finally I divided proverbs for education purpose in 3 level as beginner, intermediate and advance.
In chapter 5th based the result of the survey which was done in part 4 by native Korean language instructors, I proposed a method for teaching Korean proverbs effectively in Korean language and culture education prospects to Indian learners of Korean language.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국어 교육에서는 속담교육의 중요성에 대한 연구가 국어교육적 측면뿐만 아니라 한국어 교육적 측면에서, 그리고 언어권별 비교 연구가 많이 진행되어 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 인도인 한국어 학습자를 위한 한국어 속담교육 연구나 한국어와 힌디어의 속담을 구체적으로 비교하는 연구는 아직 부재하다. 따라서 본 연구에서 연구자는 한국어 자료에서 사용빈도가 높은 속담을 선정하여 한국어와 힌디어의 속담 비교를 통해 양국의 문화와 사회적 특징을 비교하고, 인도인 한국어 학습자를 위한 한국어 교육용 속담을 선정 및 배열 목록을 만들었고 한국어 속담교육의 다양한 교육 방법을 제시하였다. 인도인 한국어 학습자를 위한 한국 속담 교육 방안을 제시하기 위해서 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행하였다.
1 장에서는 본 연구의 목적과 필요성, 연구 방법과 한국어 교육 분야에서 속담교육과 관련 선행연구를 살펴봤다.
2장에서는 속담의 개념과 특성, 그리고 한국문화 교육에서 속담이 어떠한 중요성을 갖는지에 대한 살펴봤다. 한국어 교육에서 속담 교육의 중요성를 의사소통 측면, 문화적 측면과 비교문화교육 측면, 그리고 어휘적 측면으로 나누어 살펴봤다.
3장에서는 한국어 교육에서 속담의 실태를 파악하고 교육용 속담을 선정하기 위해 6개의 한국 내 교육기관의 한국어교재, 한국어 교육용 속담 교재3개와 인도 델리대학교의 한국어 교재, 한국어 능력 시험에 제시된 속담을 분석하여 그 특징과 문제점을 살펴보았고, 한국어교재와 1~15회까지의 한국어 능력시험에서 나타난 속담을 분석한 후3번 이상 중복된 속담64개를 선택하여 사용빈도를 실펴봤다.
한국어교육 자료에서 살펴본 속담교육의 몇 가지 문제점을 정리하면, 첫째, 교재마다 단계별로 제시되어 있는 속담의 수가 적절하지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구에서 한국어 자료를 분석하여 중복 비율이 높은 속담을 선정하여 단계별 교육용 속담 60개를 선정하였다. 둘째, 어떤 교재는 속담의 문화적 배경이 잘 제시되어 있지만 어떤 교재들은 매우 부족했다. 이러한 이유로, 학습자에게 한국어 속담 교육을 할 때, 학습자의 숙달도에 맞는 다양한 과제와 보충자료를 함께 사용하여 문화적인 배경을 잘 이해할수 있도록 해야 한다고 졀론을 내렸다.
본고의 4장에서는 사용빈도와 난이도를 고려하여 교육용 한국어 속담 선정 및 배열에 대해서 살펴봤다. 사용빈도는 살펴보기 위해서 한국어 교재와 한국어능력시험에서 3번 이상 중복된 속담을 중심으로 목록을 만들었다. 그리고 이 목록의 순위는 사용빈도를 고려하여 만들였다. 한국어 자료를 분석하여 제시한 사용빈도 조사 결과에서 선정한 64개의 속담은 다른 교육용 속담 선정 연구에 제시한 사용빈도가 높은 속담들 중에 존재하는지 살펴봤고 결국으로 본 연구에서60개의 속담을 교육용 속담으로 선정하였다.
다음으로, 학습자의 발달 단계에 맞는 속담을 제시하기 위해 난이도를 두 번째 기준으로 선정했다. 본 연구의 선정한 60개의 속담의 난이도를 파악하고 속담 배열 목록을 만들기 위해서 다음의 두 가지 즉 ①한국어 속담과 힌디어 속담의 대조 분석, ②한국인 교사 난이도 평가 분석 방법을 사용하였다. 선정한 60개의 한국어 속담을 힌디어 속담과의 대조분석을 Clifford Prator (1967)에 소개한 6 단계 범주의 난이도 구분을 활용하여 대조분석한 것이다. 그 후, 이 목록을 한국인 한국어 교사를 대상으로 한 설문지를 통해 직접 속담의 난이도를 평가했다. 이러한 두 가지 방법을 분석하여 그 결과를 바탕으로 단계별 교육용 속담을 선정하고 제시하였다.
5장에서는 본고의 4장에서 분석한 한국인 한국어 교사를 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 결과를 고려하여 인도인 한국어 학습자를 위한 속담교육의 다양한 교육방법을 제시하였다
