조선시대 기와 유통 연구 -가마의 위치와 운송을 중심으로- = The Study of Roof-Tile Currency During Chosun Dynasty

The Roof-Tile Kiln during Chosun Dynasty has been founded on old texts and kiln sites, and traditional folkways. We have focused on handicraft than location and supply-demand. There is a precondition to find out producing and demanding site at the same time. It is that the same roof-tiles should be excavated on the two sites. but It is not the simple way to find the same roof-tiles except the kiln was in the temples, fortress, etc. Therefore the majority of archeologist has to be presumed the demanding site. And over 30% of reports could not be bring up the small clue about it. This report will provide an information about kiln`s location and supply-demand relationship. The distance of between kiln and demanding site which was below 1km was almost 70%, below 3km was 10%, over 3km was a few of them beside official kiln. The official kiln could be located till 10km distance from it. That is, most of the kiln were near from demanding site. The beneficial point of the neighborhood location is the reduction of economic cost for suppling. The soil and fire wood which were most raw material could be easily get from nearby mountain and farming field. The firewood was not vanished easily because the kiln was been working at the time of demand once in a while. The only trouble was that the kiln had been running many and long term. But it was not a disadvantage if there was demanding site near. Because the cost of carrying a firewood was chipper than carrying a roof-tile. The main reason that the kiln was near the demanding site was the roof-tiles were havy to carry and easy to be broken before arriving the building. For the more, the roof-tiles were provided on a large scale even for only single building. On the other hand, it is expected that the water transport will be discovered through finding out a storehouse and a wharf etc. by riverside. Because the ship and navigation skill was improved enough for carrying roof-tile during Chosun Dynasty. But the transport by water is early to discuss yet.
