씨름의 미학적 고찰 = (A)Study on aesthetic aspects of Ssirum

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 씨름에 의한 신체의 움직임과 신체와 환경의 관계성, 그리고 승리하고자 하는 경쟁심에서, 아름다움을 나타내는 의미가 담겨져 있을 것이란 가설 하에 연구가 출발하였다. 그리고 연구의 결론을 도출하고자 기존의 미학과 관련된 문헌들을 분석하였으며, 현역 씨름선수들과 면담을 통하여 결론에 도달하였다.
본 연구는 씨름의 본질, 미학의 의미, 경험에 따른 미적현상 등에 대해서 논의하였고 이를 바탕으로 씨름의 동작 미, 공간 미, 경쟁적인 미를 분석하였다. 그리고, 씨름의 미적 의미를 부여하여 미학적 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다.
따라서 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
첫째, 동작미는 씨름선수가 동작을 수행하면서 느끼는 현상을 체험적으로 나타낸 것이다. 즉, 경기장에 들어서는 선수들의 몸 동작과 경기 전, 또는 승리 직전의 선수들 특유의 몸놀림, 그리고 경기 중에 나타나는 힘의 표출, 힘의 대칭(對稱)상태, 그리고 빠름과 느림은 씨름만의 미적 동작을 나타내고 있다. 몸 동작과 발 동작, 힘의 표출 등을 나타내는 미적의미는 씨름의 기술동작과 밀접한 상관성이 있으며, 씨름의 기본기술인 손 기술, 다리 기술, 허리 기술 등의 외적인 표현은 씨름에 의한 동작에서 미적인 부분을 표출하고 있다.
둘째, 공간미는 원형의 모습을 지니고 있는 경기장을 중심으로 발생되며 경기장은 원이라는 한정된 공간에서 신체를 움직여 시간적, 공간적으로 변화하는 과정의 연속선상에 있다. 이러한 시간적, 공간적 환경은 관중과 선수와의 공간성을 친밀히 하여, 선수자신이 관중과 자신과의 공간성 안에서 서로에게 관심을 나타내는 아름다움을 나타내고 있다. 그리고 올바른 심판관의 모습을 통하여, 공간적 관계에서 내적인 아름다움이 표출되기도 한다.
셋째, 경쟁적인 미는 씨름의 스포츠적 성격을 나타낸 의미가 있다. 스포츠는 경기규칙에 의해서 이루어진다. 씨름경기는 철저하게 경기규칙을 적용하여 경기가 진행되고 있으며 이러한 경기진행은 승리해야 하는 경쟁적인 요소를 가지고 있다. 이러한 경쟁적인 요소는 씨름선수의 경기수행에 있어서 완벽성(完璧性)을 유도(誘導)하고 있다. 이러한 완벽성은 씨름경기의 경쟁성을 통해서 미를 추구하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study has started on the hypothesis that the intention of showing beaty comes from body motion of wrestling, the relation of body and circumstances and a spirit of competition. For this study Aesthestics itself and related documents have been analyzed with interviewing of wrestlers. This study has dealt with wrestling's nature, the meaning of aesthestics, Phenomena of aesthestics from experience and on the base of the results the beauty of wrestling motion, the beauty of space, and the beauty of competition have been analyzed and also this study has tried to find aesthestic factors. The results are following
First, the beauty of motion is showed while wrestler performs by direct and actual experiences ― wrestlers' body motions in entering a stadium, unique gestures before playing a match and just before gaining a victory, exposure of power during the match, symmetry of power of two wrestlers, quick and slow motions. The beauty of body and feet gestures is colsely connected with technical actions of wrestling and also the techniques of hands, feet and waist express many aspects of beauty in wresting externally.
Second, the beauty of space is from a stadium which has a round shape. The stadium is included in the process of various body motion according to time and space. The environment according to time and space makes wrestlers and spectators close. Wrestlers themselves reveal the beauty by having concern about the spectators. And impartial referees showing interior beauty from the spacial relationship between players and spectators.
Third, The beauty of competition have the meaning of sporting nature in wrestling. Sports should have urles. Wrestling absolutely is played by maintaining rules and also such sports are competitive. This kind of competition makes the performance of wrestlers be perfect. The beauty comes from this perfection
