현대 중국어 신체동사 ‘走’, ‘跑’, ‘跳’의 개념화 양상 연구 = A Study of Conceptualization of Modern Chinese Verbs for Body ‘走’, ‘跑’, ‘跳’

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study suggested the phrase body part verbs in the vocabulary group for body movements, similar to body-part terms in the noun group, and organized the verbs for body parts. In addition, from the viewpoint of cognitive linguistics, the pattern of the meaning expansion of Chinese verbs for feet and legs, such as 走, 跑, and 跳, was examined, and the cognitive mechanisms were identified.
The body is an essential means for us to perceive and categorize the world and plays an important role for us to understand and use language. For example, the meaning of 走 is expanded through the semantic qualities of [+organism], [+movement], [+direction], [+parallel], and [+space] from the expression of human body movements to the movements of things, physical objects, and abstract objects. The character 跑 goes through the semantic qualities of the above five and [+speed], [+verticality], and [+breakaway], and 跳 the semantic qualities of [+organism], [+movement], [+direction], [+verticality], [+speed], [+breakaway], and [+landing] for meaning expansion. This is the result of naming repeated experiences, which generate a certain pattern, the same as similar or related objects. Such meaning expansion process involves expanding the meaning of existing words by human similarity and ability to recognize closeness and creates rich and varied meanings of the concept.
