1990년대 여성주의철학, 보살핌과 배려의 너머 : 콜버그에서 길리건으로, 길리건에서 트론토로 돌봄 윤리의 확장 = Feminist Philosophy in the 1990s, Beyond Care and Consideration : The Exp ansion of Care Ethics from Kohlberg to Gilligan, from Gilligan to Tronto

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 한국 사회에서 전문여성학회를 집중적으로 창립했던 1990년대를 풍미한 여성주의철학의 관심사를 분석한 글이다. 한국의 여성 철학자들은 서양의 남성 주체가 정립한 철학이 보편적 진리성을 지니지를 반문하면서 여성적 경험과 여성적 가치를 반영하는 철학을 재구축하는 ‘여성주의 인식론’에 천착한다. 이와 함께 1990년대 철학계에 등장하여 21세기까지 통찰력을 발휘한 주제가 길리건의 보살핌 윤리다. 길리건은 심리발달과 도덕발달의 척도를 ‘정의 윤리’로만 한정하는 콜버그의 도덕발달론을 비판하면서 보살핌 윤리의 정당성을 주장한다. 그래서이 글은 콜버그의 도덕발달론 안에서 보살핌의 흔적을 발굴하여 정의 윤리와 보살핌 윤리의 접점을 구축하고자 한다. 이것을 뒷받침하기 위해, 후반부에는 여성적 보살핌 윤리를 보편적 책임 윤리로 확장하면서 돌봄민주주의를 주장하는 트론토의 범윤리적 대안을 살펴본다. 마지막에는 이런 흐름과 관련하여 1990년대 한국의 여성 철학자들이 보살핌 윤리를 동양철학과 비교하면서 보살핌 윤리의 한계를 극복 하는 형이상학적 대안을 어떻게 제시하는지를 서술한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper analyzes the themes of feminist philosophy that prevailed in the 1990s, when professional women’s associations were intensively founded in Korean society. Korean female philosophers focus on "feminist philosophy" that reconstructs the philosophy of applying feminine experiences and feminine values, asking whether the philosophy established by the male subjects of the West has universal truth. At the same time, Gilligan’s ethics of care emerged in the philosophical world in the 1990s and showed insight until the 21st century. Gilligan argues for the legitimacy of care ethics, criticizing Kohlberg’s theory of moral development, which limits psychological and moral development to “justice ethics.” Therefore, this article aims to establish a point of contact between justice ethics and care ethics by discovering traces of care within Kohlberg’s moral development theory. To support this, in the second half, this article looks at Tronto’s meta-ethical alternatives that advocate caring democracy while extending the ethics of feminine care to universal responsibility ethics. Finally, in relation to this trend, it describes how Korean female philosophers in the 1990s compare care ethics with Eastern philosophy and present metaphysical alternatives to overcome the limitations of care ethics.
