This treatise thoroughly examines how the elements of social phenomena influence the artistic expression in Arts and how the same element of the social phenomena that is expressed in an artistic genre can be expressed differently in a different artistic genre. The study is about the scholar analysis and compares the elements of social phenomena with the expression of them through the medium of art. The researcher examines the relation between the social elements and the expression in researcher`s dance piece <Birds of Our Generation> that is based on the poem <Birds of Our Generation> by Kyung Lim Shin. As its definition, the art consists of 1) the line that expresses forms and movements of the subject, 2) the tone that gives true substance, 3) forms, 4) unity, and 5) structural motif. However, for dance works the researcher adds another element that is the power radiated from the movement, and that power is one of the biggest aesthetic elements. Among all the elements of art including the structural motif, the researcher focuses on the case in which the social and environmental elements that bring social issues are expressed through art, and compares how the characteristics of the elements have before they are expressed in art and how they change after they are expressed through art. The scholar emphasizes that there is not only a difference between the poem (art work) and the reality in Kyung Lim Shin`s poem <Birds of Our Generation>, but also there is a difference between the scholar`s dance piece <Birds of Our Generation> that is based on the poem <Birds of Our Generation> and the poem itself. The poem is realistic while the dance piece is imaginative. (Researcher suggested that since the poem is expressed through language, it has the power to let the reader imagine more realistically and to appeal stronger than the dance form.) The subject matters for art could be the realistic ones, but the elements that comprise art are images. These images can be changed according to the artist`s view or the artwork`s view. The scholar analyzes that the birds are the metaphors that generalize human suffering and signify human beings in Kyung Lim Shin`s poem. In addition, she emphasizes that the poet unifies the poetic space and his reality space and by unifying two spaces, the poet succeeds to make the social pressure in reality melt into his poetic space. The scholar expresses the unification of two spaces through two methods in her own dance piece <Birds of Our Generation>. One is personification of birds, and the other is symbolism. The scholar provides freedom to the characters that are conservative in the poem, so their specific images become general ones that represent generalized relationship between man and woman and their lives in her dance <Bird of Our Generation>. According to the scholar, unifying two spaces in Kyung Lim Shin`s poem brings the dependence on the reality and stimulates pathos, so giving freedom to the characters leads her to soften pathos that the poet`s expression "frozen bluish summer street" brings in the poem and convert it into ethos that enhances emotion. According to the analysis, it is clear that although the original basic element is the same for the two different genres of art, the creations can become very different corresponding to the artists` interpretation and expression of the element of social phenomena. Also, arts and reality, the real and image can also be different depending on the different artists` eye
