2009시그래프 아트갤러리 작품분석-니클라스 루먼의 사회체계이론과 인공생명을 중심으로 = An analysis of SIGGRAPH 2009 Art Gallery selected art works based on Niklas Luhmann's Sociological systems theory and Artificial Life

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this study, we analyze and understand eleven selected art works in Art gallery, SIGGRAPH2009 based on Nikas Luhmann's 'Sociological systems theory' and 'Artificial life art'. Since these art works were developed by a basic common concept, 'BioLogic : A Natural History of Digital Life', they expressed 'Emergent behavior' and 'Autopoiesis' of life in various ways. Therefore, we are going to look into meaning of 'Unpredictability', 'Complextiy', 'Selection', 'Reduction', 'Autopoiesis', 'Communication', 'System' and 'Enrvironment', which are main ideas in sociological systems theory and 'Emergent behavior', 'Co-evolution', and 'Metacreation' in artificial life, and apply them to the selected art works in SIGGRAPH2009 to understand the main concepts and properties of life in digital art, and autopoietic properties in system of art which are composed of system of artsit, system of art work, and system of audience.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 시그래프2009 아트갤러리에 선정된 11개의 작품을 니클라스 루먼의 ‘사회체계이론’과 ‘인공생명(Artificial Life)예술’을 바탕으로 분석, 이해하고자 한다. 특히 이번 시그래프2009 아트갤러리에 전시된 작품들은 'BioLogic : A Natural History of Digital Life'라는 공통된 주제 하에 이루어 진 것으로서 ‘생명’이 갖고 있는 ‘창발적 행동(Emergent Behavior)'과 '자생성(Autopoiesis)'을 다양한 방법으로 표현하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 첫째, 루먼의 체계이론 의 주요개념인 불확실성과 복잡성, 선별과 의미, 자생성과 자아회귀성, 의사소통, 그리고 체계와 환경의 개념에 대해 알아보고 둘째, 인공생명의 창발적 행동, 공진화, 그리고 메타창조라는 개념을 살펴본 후에 이를 시그래프2009 아트갤러리 작품들에 적용, 분석함으로써 디지털아트가 가지고 있는 생명적 속성에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 또한 작가와 작품, 관객이 하나의 체계로 구성되며 동시에 하나의 예술체계를 구성하는 체계의 자생적 특징에 대해서도 이해하도록 한다.
