    The characteristics of the character of 'Mandeok', the protagonist of 'Mandeok ghost stories', can be summarized as follows.
    First, we wanted to express the scene of Jeju 4·3 as it is through the virtue of ‘Mandeok’ who was good and steady in personality and a subordinate of lowly status.
    Second, the superhuman and heroic behavior of Mandeok expressed the resistance to the oppressing power in the field of Jeju 4·3.
    Third, it rescued Jeju citizens who were victimized by the violence of public power and played a role as a savior for Jeju and Jeju residents.
    This is the expression of the author's desire to rescue the Jeju citizens who have died innocently in the field of Jeju 4·3 through Mandeok, and to protect the Jeju Island and prevent the division and to desire a unified Korean peninsula.
