      Performance assessment is one of the hot issues debated lately in the talks among teachers, students and parents. The main purpose of performance assessment is to understand students wholistically and improve their higher order thinking skills such as creativity and problem-solving ability. Few in the field of education and physical education would deny its necessity and importance. However, when it comes to the issue of implementation, many wonder about the lack of practical ideas and the difficulties of actually conducting in school settings. If physical education teachers` evaluation practices do not reflect the idea and are not performed accordingly, the wonderful idea would be useless and powerless in improving physical education, no matter how wonderful the idea of performance assessment is in its possibility for improving educational practice and how well the policy support is provided to it Even worse, it could give physical education teachers a chunk of additional works to do, which no one really wants. The purpose study is to identify factors influential to and provide some practical suggestions for the successful implementation of performance assessment in school physical education.
