Vehicle has the characteristics that steering wheel is returned a neutral state automatically when release the hand. Such steering returnability originating from tire forces and moments. And reaction torque is generated through the rack and column depends on suspension and steering geometry. It is important to accurately predict and design because steering returnability is related to steering performance. In this study, vehicle modeling including steering and suspension friction model is performed to estimate steering returnability. And then using DOE(Design Of Experiments) contribution analysis. Through this process to confIrm the root cause and propose ways to improve for remaining angle and laterality after returned a steering wheel.
