시간여행 영화의 쾌락 : 시간, 죽음, 두려움으로부터의 해방

국문 초록 (Abstract)

시간여행을 주제로 한 영화들은 예전부터 흥미로운 소재였지만 드물게 제작되었다. 2000년대 들어 시간여행 영화들이 급증한다는 점에서 주목할 필요가 있다. 그래서 본고는 아리스토텔레스, 베르그송, 불교의 시간관을 중심으로 시간여행 영화들을 살펴봄으로써 이런 영화들에 호응하는 관객의 욕구 및 쾌락을 고찰하고자 한다. 시간여행 영화에서의 시간관은 세 가지 경향을 보여준다. 첫째, <동감>, <시월애>, <지금 만나러 갑니다>에서는 순환론적 시간관과 운명론적 세계관이 드러난다. 인물들은 서로 다른 시간대에서 ‘지금’을 살고 있으며, 자신의 삶을 부분적으로 변형시키고자 하지만 결국 순리적으로 문제를 해결하게 된다. 둘째, <나비효과>, <시간을 달리는 소녀>는 평행우주 이론 및 다세계 이론과 순리론적 세계관을 보여준다. 인물들은 계속 과거로 시간여행을 함으로써 자신의 삶을 계속 변형시키고자 하지만 더 많은 문제에 부딪힌다. 그들이 결국 순리를 따를 때 문제가 해결된다. 셋째, <이프 온리>와 <말할 수 없는 비밀>은 운명의 갈림길과 주체의 의지를 보여준다. 인물들은 시간여행을 통해 두 세계에 직면하여, 이기심/이타심, 자신/연인 중에서 하나만을 선택해야 하는 상황에 처하게 된다. 결국 이 영화들은 주체의 선택을 통한 의식의 부단한 지속과 자각 등을 강조한다는 점에서 베르그송의 시간관과 연관된다. 영화에서 주인공들은 자신의 삶을 변형시키고자 하는 적극적인 욕구, 운명과 순리에 대한 순응, 다양한 복수주체를 보여주고 있다. 시간여행 영화는 컴퓨터 게임을 통한 가상현실과 연관성이 깊다. 시간여행영화 관객의 쾌락은 복수주체, 탈시공간성, 가상현실 등은 죽음, 시간, 두려움으로부터 해방되고자 하는 가상세계의 목표와 부합한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The movies of travel in time had been interested matter, but these had been produced rarely. But the movies of travel in time has increased greatly in 2000’s. So this study investigate centering idea of time in Aristoteles, Bergson and Buddhism, which want to consider desire and pleasure of audience that has been drawn by these films. The time view in these time travel movies has three trends. The first, Ditto, A Love story and Be with You(いま, 會いにゆきます) show the circular time view and a world view of fatalism. The characters live in ‘the presents’ of the different time zone, and they want to change their lives but finally they want to solve matters with reason. The second, The Butterfly effect, The Girl Who Leapt Thorough Time show Parallel worlds theory, Many Worlds Theory and a world view of rationalism. The characters want to change their lives but they meet a lot of problems. When they follow rationalism after all, the problems become solved. The third, If Only and Secret show a turning point in life and an intention of the subject. The characters stand on the two worlds by the time travel, so they become to be placed in the situation that they should choose only the one between self-interest and self-sacrifice, oneself and a sweetheart of one’s own. The pleasure in these time travel films is connected with virtual time travel by computer game. The subject in cyber world is multi-subject, its time has non-linearity and its space has virtual reality. The desire for virtual reality in time travel of these films show just liberating from death, time and uneasiness, arousing a hopeless desire. Then in these films, the characters show active desire that want to change their lives, adaptation about destiny and reasonableness, and various multi-subject.
