성인학습자가 인식한 사회적 지지가 학업지속의향에 미치는 영향 : 그릿의 매개효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 전문대학 학위과정에 재학 중인 성인학습자가 지각한 사회적 지지가 학업지속의향에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 그 과정에서 그릿의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 최근 평생학습의 중요성이 확대되면서 전문대학에 진학하는 성인학습자의 비율이 증가하고 있으나 성인학습자는 학업과 직장, 가정생활을 병행해야 하는 특성으로 인해 학업 지속 과정에서 다양한 어려움을 경험하고 있다. 이에 따라 성인학습자의 학업중도탈락을 예방하고 학업지속을 촉진하기 위해서는 학업지속의향에 영향을 미치는 심리·환경적 요인을 통합적으로 탐색할 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 수도권에 위치한 J대학에 재학 중인 성인학습자 189명을 대상으로 사회적 지지, 그릿, 학업지속의향에 관한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 사회적 지지의 하위요인은 가족지지, 친구지지, 중요한 타인의 지지이며, 그릿은 흥미그릿과 끈기그릿으로 구성된다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 20.0과 Amos 21.0을 사용하여 구조방정식 모형으로 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성인학습자가 지각한 사회적 지지는 학업지속의향에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 그릿의 하위요인 중 흥미그릿은 학업지속의향에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았으나 끈기그릿은 학업지속의향에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 성인학습자가 지각한 친구의 지지와 중요한 타인의 지지는 끈기그릿을 완전 매개하여 학업지속의향에 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 성인학습자의 학업지속의향에 영향을 미치는 사회적·심리적 요인을 통합적으로 분석하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 본 연구 결과는 대학에 진학한 성인학습자의 학업중도탈락을 예방하고, 학업의 지속을 촉진하기 위한 대학 및 학과 차원의 지원 정책과 비교과 프로그램을 설계하는 데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to examine the influence of perceived social support on adult learners’ intention to persist in learning in associate degree programs at specialized colleges, as well as the mediating effect of grit in this relationship. As the importance of lifelong learning has increased, the number of adult learners entering higher education institutions has steadily grown. However, adult learners often experience various difficulties in balancing academic work, employment, and family responsibilities. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the psychological and environmental factors influencing their intention to persist in learning. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 189 adult learners at J University located in the metropolitan area, measuring perceived social support, grit, and intention to persist in learning. The sub-factors of perceived social support consisted of family support, friends’ support, and significant others’ support, while grit consisted of consistency of interest and perseverance of effort. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with SPSS WIN 20.0 and AMOS 21.0. The results are as follows. First, perceived social support did not have a direct effect on intention to persist in learning. Second, perseverance of effort grit positively influenced intention to persist in learning, whereas consistency of interest grit showed no significant effect. Third, friends’ support and significant others’ support indirectly affected intention to persist in learning through the complete mediation of perseverance of effort grit. These findings provide foundational evidence for designing university- and department-level support policies and educational programs to prevent dropout and promote sustained academic engagement among adult learners in higher education.
