디지털화에 따른 노동의 양극화와 사회적 불평등: 사회학적 전망과 과제 = Work Polarization and Social Inequality after the Digitalization: Sociological Perspectives and Tasks

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Today, digitalization functions as a metatrend to capture the new features of capitalism. Digital technologies are having a profound impact on production and labor markets while creating new inequalities. Contrary to the predictions of post-capitalist theorists that digitalization will help democratize the economy, today's digitalization strengthens market dominance and labor control to levels that are difficult to defend with traditional labor movements or social movements. While with the advent of digital capitalism the limits of traditional ‘industrial democracy’ and ‘industrial citizenship’ are becoming clear, in the new socio-ecological environment of market domination, the forces fighting against social inequality are divided and even engaged in confrontational conflicts. In this respect, the characteristics of digital capitalism require new tasks in the sociological analysis of inequality.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 디지털화는 자본주의의 새로운 특성을 파악하는 메타트랜드로 작용한다. 디지털 기술은 생산과 노동시장에 지대한 영향을 미치는 동시에 새로운 방식으로 불평등을 야기하고 있다. 디지털화가 경제의 민주화에 기여하리라는 포스트 자본주의 이론가의 전망과 달리 오늘날 디지털화는 전통적인 노동운동이나 시민사회의 저항으로 방어해내기 어려운 수준으로 오히려 시장지배력과 노동통제를 강화하고 있다. 디지털 자본주의의 등장으로 전통적 산업민주주의와 산업시민권의 한계가 뚜렷해지는 반면, 사회불평등의 저항세력은 시장지배의 새로운 사회생태적 환경 속에서 분열되고 심지어 대립적 갈등관계에 놓여 있다. 그러한 점에서 디지털 자본주의의 특성은 사회학적 불평등 분석에 새로운 과제를 요구하고 있다.
