The absorption spectra of rhodamine B in aqueous solution have been studied In terms of monomer-dimer equilibria in the 10^(-6) to 10^(-4) M concentration range.
From the changes in the absorption spectra with dye concentration, the dimeric constant and the absorption curves of the pure monomer and the pure dimer are calculated.
By making comparison of the computed theoretical spectrum of the dimer with the one obtained from the above mentioned equilibrium study, the configuration and dimension of the rhodamine B dimer are determined.
