The Seoul Landfill Site is one of the largest waste landfills in the world. Globally, landfill sites are being developed into an environment-friendly area following the stabilization phase. This study measures the economic value of public space following the construction of an environment-friendly landfill site. The Double Bound Dichotomous Choice-Open Questionnaire Contingent Valuation was used to measure the WTP results on creating public space. Results show that the Seoul Landfill Site should transform into a public space, the average WTP per household in the Seoul area is approximately 1,773 won. If expanded to the entire metropolitan area, the economic value of public space after creating the landfill site into an environment-friendly area comes to an annual total of 44.7 billion won. The results can be used to calculate the economic value of the cost-benefit analysis of creating public space, which is being pursued by the government as part of its public policy.
