Aerodynamic and aeroelastic studies of long-span bridge depend on wind tunnel test.
In the design stages it is important to investigate the flutter stability, buffeting response, and vortex-induced response of long-span bridges to wind excitation. These procedures must be able to estimate faithfully the response of the prototype. Wind tunnel test is composed generally of section model and full bridge model test. But there are some differences in the procedure of each laboratory.
This paper compares wind tunnel tests and aerodynamic studies in order to recommend more effective method.
