중등 예비교원의 다문화 역량 함양을 위한 수업 사례 연구 = A Case Study on the Development of Multicultural Competency of Secondary School Pre-service Teachers.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 중등 예비교원의 다문화 역량 강화를 위해 설계·운영한 교과목 사례를 분석하여, 향후 다문화 관련 교과 운영의 개선 방안을 모색하고 방향성을 제고하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과, 예비교원의 다문화 역량 함양을 위한 교과목 운영은 다음과 같은 성과를 나타냈다. 첫째, 이론 중심의 지식 전달이 아닌 프로젝트형 및 모둠 활동형 수업 방식이 긍정적인 효과를 보였으며, 특히 전문가 초청 특강을 통해 학습자의 높은 호응을 끌어냈다. 둘째, 교과목에서 가장 중요하게 다뤄진 주제는 ‘다문화주의의 이해’와 ‘다문화 교육의 의미와 필요성’으로, 이론적 이해가 추후 학습에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 예비교원들은 본 교과목 수강을 통해 다문화 역량의 필요성을 인식하고, 이를 학교 현장에서 적용할 가능성을 긍정적으로 평가하였다. 넷째, 교과목 수강 이후 학습자들은 다문화에 대한 긍정적 인식 변화와 더불어, 미래 교사로서 해야 할 역할에 대한 기대와 개인적 성장을 경험하였다. 본고는 교원양성 대학의 교직소양 교양과목 운영 사례를 통해 예비교원의 다문화 역량 강화의 중요성을 제고하고, 이를 위한 개선 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

This study aims to analyze the case of a course designed and implemented to enhance multicultural competence among prospective secondary school teachers, with the goal of exploring improvements and providing direction for future multicultural curriculum development. The findings indicate several outcomes from the operation of this course. First, shifting from theory-based lectures to project-based and group activity-oriented classes proved to be effective, with guest lectures by experts receiving a particularly positive response from students. Second, the most significant topics covered in the course were ‘Understanding Multiculturalism’ and ‘The Meaning and Necessity of Multicultural Education,’ emphasizing that theoretical comprehension had a substantial impact on subsequent learning. Third, prospective teachers recognized the need for multicultural competence and positively evaluated the applicability of these skills in school settings. Fourth, after completing the course, students reported a shift toward a more positive perception of multiculturalism, along with a renewed sense of their roles as future educators, personal growth, and heightened expectations for a multicultural society. This study, through a case analysis of a liberal arts course focused on teacher education, highlights the importance of enhancing multicultural competence among prospective teachers and proposes improvements for future curriculum development.
