This study is an textbook analysis study on multicultural society. I analyzed 7 high school social studies textbooks in terms of perspectives on multicultural society and also analyzed consistency between units which deal with multicultural society and the other topics. The results are as follows: 1) Most textbooks explain multicultural society as multi-ethnic society, especially most textbooks focused on international marriage between Korean male and Asian female. 2) Few textbooks explain multicultural society with student`s everyday life. 3) Most textbooks have positive attitude toward diversity, but the perspectives are on the side of majority. 4) Some textbooks have positive attitude toward mono-nationalism. 5) In multicultural society related unit, the most frequently presented group is diverse ethnic group, but in the other topic related unit, the most frequently presented group is Korean non-handicapped male. 6) Most people in the textbooks are described in a way to strengthening prejudice toward minority. From these results, we can conclude that it is necessary to extend the meaning of ``diversity`` in the textbook, to change the ideas of textbook author, and to make classroom instruction and textbook more relevant to students` everyday life.
