Purpose: This descriptive correlational study was undertaken in order to inveatigate the relationship between critical thinking disposition and self-directed learning of nuraing students. Methods: Participants were total 160 nursing students of university of B city. Data were collected by self reporting questionnaire from May 4 to May 19, 2012. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffes’ test, Pearson Correlation
Coefficients, Stepwise Multiple Regression with SPSS Programs. Results: The total mean score of critical thinking dispositions in the nursing students was moderately(3.51). There was a statistically significant difference in self-directed learning according to presence of religion, level of student s recode and satisfaction of school life. A significant positive correlation between critical thinking disposition and self-directed learning of nuraing students was r=.65(p<.001). Factors affecting self-directed learning: the degree of the highest degree of nursing students critical thinking disposition as a factor that explains 42% had competence(β=.63). Conclusion: Higher levels of attitude and critical thinking disposition level were related to higher levels of self-directed learning. Therefore, in order to increase the degree of self-directed learning, it is necessary to develop the nursing program and its application considering nursing students critical thinking disposition level.
