'비욘드-포스트모더니즘(Beyond Postmodernism)' 공연예술의 흐름과 양상에 관한 연구 : 마리나 아브라모비치, 컴플리시테, 토마스 오스터마이어, 밀로 라우의 공연분석을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

포스트모더니즘은 1960년대부터 세계 문화의 흐름이었지만, 1990년대부터는 포스트모더니즘 이후에 대한 논의가 활발하게 이루어진다. 하지만 국내에서는 이 같은 연구가 미비하다.
본 연구자는 포스트모더니즘 이후의 흐름인 비욘드-포스트모더니즘 이론을 분석하고, 이를 통해 비욘드-포스트모더니즘의 특성은 포스트모더니즘의 특성과 모더니즘의 특성의 영향을 모두 반영하는 특성을 갖는 것을 확인한다.
본 연구자는 핫산과 이글턴이 주장한 진실, 신뢰, 믿음, 사실, 영성, 정체성 등이 중요시 되는 문화의 새로운 이론을 비욘드-포스트모더니즘으로 지칭하고, 이와 같은 비욘드-포스트모더니즘의 주요 특성을 공연 예술에 어떻게 반영되고 있는지를 연구하여 파악한다.
본 연구에서 비욘드-포스트모더니즘의 공연예술 형태를 분석하기 위하여 1970년대부터 현재까지 활동하고 있는 예술가 마리나 아브라모비치의 작품을 분석한다. 또한, 컴플리시테의 공연분석을 통해 포스트모더니즘이 가장 활발했던 1980년대부터 현재까지 문화의 특성을 확인하고, 비욘드-포스트모더니즘에서 추구되는 문화의 특성을 발견한다. 이어서, 1990년대부터 예술 활동을 시작한 토마스 오스터마이어에 대한 분석으로 20세기의 마지막과 21세기의 문화의 차이를 비교한다. 끝으로, 21세기 들어 주목받고 있는 밀로 라우의 공연을 살펴봄으로써 비욘드-포스트모더니즘의 뉴 다큐멘터리 예술을 연구한다.
본 연구를 통해 비욘드-포스트모더니즘은 믿음, 공감, 진실, 영성 등의 특성을 갖는다는 점을 확인한다. 연구 결과를 통해, 21세기의 공연에서는 이와 같은 인간 본성을 존중하는 비욘드-포스트모더니즘의 특성이 반영된 작품이 제작될 것을 예상하며 제언한다.

Postmodernism has been the trend of world culture since the 1960s, but since the 1990s, discussions on beyond postmodernism have been actively conducted. However, such research is insufficient in Korea.
This researcher analyzes the Beyond-Postmodernism theory, which is the flow after postmodernism, and confirms that the characteristics of Beyond-Postmodernism reflect the effects of both the characteristics of postmodernism and the characteristics of modernism.
This researcher refers to a new theory of culture in which truth, trust, belief, fact, spirituality, and identity are important, and identifies how the main characteristics of Beyond-postmodernism are reflected in performing arts.
In this study, the work of Marina Abramovich, who has been a representative of performing arts since the 1970s to the present, is analyzed to analyze the performing art form of Beyond-Postmodernism. In addition, through the performance analysis of Complicite, the characteristics of culture from the 1980s to the present, when postmodernism was most active, are confirmed, and the characteristics of culture pursued in Beyond-Postmodernism are found. Next, an analysis of Thomas Ostermeyer, who began artistic activities in the 1990s, compares the differences between the last of the 20th century and the 21st century's culture. Finally, by looking at Milo Lau's performance, which has attracted attention in the 21st century, we study the new documentary art of Beyond-Postmodernism.
Through this study, it is confirmed that Beyond-Postmodernism has characteristics such as faith, empathy, truth, and spirituality. Through the research results, it is expected and suggested that a work that reflects the characteristics of Beyond-Postmodernism that respects human nature will be produced in the 21st century performance.
