초등영어교육에서의 모음 발음지도에 관한 연구 -/Λ/와 /□/를 중심으로- = Teaching Pronunciation of English Vowels in Elementary Schools: Focused on / Λ / and /□/

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The acquisition of a new language requires conscious and analytical effort. However, children will learn it from facile imitation of the sounds which native speakers habitually use in speaking. As learning it, children have difficulty learning the pronunciation of the target language due to the difference of the sound system between their native language and target language. Accordingly, this paper aims to study on the teaching pronunciation of English vowels in Korean elementary school, particularly relating with mid central vowel /Λ/ and low back vowel /□/. To understand and acquire the phonetic differences between these two phonemes, Korean children should listen to the two phonemes repeatedly from the voice of native speakers and pronounce the phonemes /Λ/ and /□/ accurately in a word or a sentence, which results in ease of communication between speakers who use different languages as a native language. This research will suggest several teaching methods of the pronunciation of English vowels, /Λ/ and /□/, which drive a high impact on classroom instruction. (Mokwon University).
