      Purpose: In order to optimize and justify imaging studies, it is recommended to set diagnostic reference level not only in the country but also in the region. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the establishment of the basis for the optimization of CT in Gyeongsang Province by setting the diagnostic reference level and the target dose of the region based on a patient dose survey of the CT operated in Gyeongsang Province.

      Methods: This study analyzed the protocol of CT performed from August 1, 2017 to January 31, 2018 in 88 medical institutions(8 primary, 67 second ary, and 13 tertiary hospitals). CTDIvol and DLP v alues were observed for each o f the 13 t arget CT protocols for setting diagnostic reference level. The third quadrant was set as a at the diagnostic reference level.

      Results: The diagnostic reference level for CTDIvol and DLP was as follows: Adult brain CT 51.61 mGy, 850.60 mGy⋅cm, pediatric brain CT I 22.92 mGy, 381.00 mGy⋅cm, pediatric CT II 36.48 mGy, 604.54 mGy⋅cm, cerebrovascular CT 25.16 mGy, 671.35 mGy⋅cm, cervical CT 20.03 mGy, 440.75 mGy⋅cm, lumbar CT 20.03 mGy, 440.75 mGy⋅cm, neck CT 11.37 mGy, 383.00 mGy⋅cm, chest CT CT 7.70 mGy, 327.04 mGy⋅cm, low dose lung CT 2.67 mGy, 106.75 mGy⋅cm, cardiovascular CT 22.58 mGy, 374.80 mGy⋅cm, general abdomen CT 9.11 mGy, 374.80 mGy⋅cm, abdominal perfusion CT 10.36 mGy, 370.00 mGy⋅cm, and urinary abdomen CT 11.33 mGy, 502.65 mGy⋅cm.

      Conclusion: The results of this study are the first diagnostic test reference level for CT in Gyeongsang Province. This DRLs will contribute to securing radiation safety of the people through medical radiation optimization.
