사회복지사의 자아 인식과 기능적 활용에 대한 탐색 연구 : 멈추어 생각해 보기 = Self-Awareness and Functional Use of Self in Practice Among Experienced Korean Social Workers : Stop and Think

국문 초록 (Abstract)

다양한 도전들 속에서 스트레스를 경험하는 사회복지사들, 그들에게 멈추어 서서 자신의 자아를 되돌아보는 성찰의 시간이 필요하다. 특별히 사회복지사의 자아가 실무에서 기능적으로 잘 활용되고 있는지 성찰하는 것은 동기 부여된 실천과 소진 예방을 위해 큰 도움이 된다. 본 연구는 다양한 사회복지 영역에서 10년 이상 경력을 가진 사회복지사들이 자신이 사회복지사로서 지금까지 일 해 온 과정을 포괄적으로 성찰하며 발견한 다양한 자아의 측면들을 어떻게 실무 상황에서 기능적으로 활용해 왔는지에 대한 경험을 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 경력 10년 이상 된 여러 분야의 사회복지사 8명을 의도적 표본추출을 통해 모집하여 심층면접을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 주제분석 방법을 활용하여 질적 분석되었고, 그 결과, 47개의 개념과 15개의 하위범주, 7개의 범주가 도출되었다. 이들은 첫째, ‘나는 나임을 인식함’, ‘나만의 독특한 경험을 확장함’, ‘신앙인으로서의 나를 조명함’, ‘밀도 있는 전문성을 발휘함’, ‘꾸준한 고민과 점검을 이어나감’, ‘선택과 구분을 통한 자기관리 방법을 적용함’, 그리고 ‘성숙한 상생을 위해 덜어주고 보태어 감’ 이었다. 이를 토대로 ‘타고난 본성과 경험을 디딤돌 삼고 신앙과 전문성을 활용해 가되 안주하지 않는 성찰과 구분된 자기관리를 통해 뜻을 향해 주변과 더불어 성장해 감’을 전체 주제로 도출하였다. 연구결과에 근거하여 사회복지 교육과정 차원에서 사회복지사의 자기인식, 자아의 기능적 활용과 자기 관리, 셀프케어 등 과목 개설 필요성을 제안하였다. 나아가 선배 사회복지사들이 경험을 통해 효과적이라고 입증한 기능적 자아활용의 모델 사례들을 본 연구에서 도출된 범주별로 공유하는 실질적 기회의 확대, 사회복지사가 자신의 신앙을 업무 상황들에 어떻게 기능적으로 반영하는지에 대한 심도 깊은 탐색, 자신만의 개성과 고유한 특성을 독특한 방식으로 홍보하고 공유함으로써 발생되는 효과에 대한 연구 및 예비사회복지사들의 차별화된 자아 발견 및 구체화된 공유 필요성도 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to explore how social workers recognize their self and use their self in functional ways. This study utilized in-depth interviews and subject analysis to collect and analyze data. Eight experienced social workers from various practice fields were recruited by purposive sampling, and in-depth individual interviews were conducted. Data were analyzed with subject analysis method through coding process. As a result, 47 concepts, 15 sub categories and 7 categories were found: ‘realizing themselves’, ‘expanding their unique experiences', 'recognizing both one’s religious and professional self', ‘using their professional perspective and skills richly’, ‘consistent self-reflection’, ‘trying to keep a healthy self with selection and separation’, and ‘sharing and contributing to mature cooperation’. The subject drawn from the analysis is ’Purposive co-growth through on the basis of in-nature personality and experience, utilization of religion and professional competence, and incessant reflection and distinguished self care’. Based on the results, the study suggests the establishment of academic courses on self reflection, the opportunities to share each category presented in the study, functional self use and self care, addressing the necessity to explore on social workers’ self use through connecting religious self, and expressing their self effectively with their distinct strengths.
