전통한지를 활용한 현대미술작품과 예술의상의 조형성과 내적의미에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Formativeness and Inner Meaning of Contemporary Art and Art to Wear Using Traditional Korean Paper

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

To apply on development of creative fashion designs, this article reviews the formativeness of Hanji works by contemporary artists, and the examples of art to wear made with Hanji. The history and utilization of hanji as the theoretical background, Hanji artworks by five leading contemporary artists in Korea and art to wear using Hanji and Mulberry fiber after 2012 were reviewed. Author reviewed the literature related to Hanji, leading papers, newspaper articles, the contents of artists’ homepage, exhibition brochures, and professional gallery archives. The results are as follows. First, it can be seen that Hanji works of contemporary art were created from artists’ unique expression techniques based on understanding of the characteristics of Hanji material. Second, Hanji Art works expressed constant concern about the relation between the artists’ inner self-identity and the external world. Thus, Hanji's work was able to establish and demonstrate its intrinsic desire, its awe of nature, and its relationship with the external world. Third, contemporary art works harmonize beautifully with the Korean traditional beauty of Hanji materials and the informal modern beauty of expression styles. Fourth, Hanji art to wear displayed the subject of the work and the artists’ degree of expression, using various techniques and the variability of Hanji based on the human body figure. Fifth, the inner beauty of the Hanji art to wear is derived from the elements of lyricism to nature, the entertainment of the working process, the conflict within human beings, the mental world of the artists, and the traditional Korean beauties. Sixth, the Hanji art to wear was highlighted on the human body based on the properties of Mulberry fiber-traditional Korean paper.
