체제 전환기 유고슬라비아 영화에 비친 사회, 문화상 연구: 국제사적 분석을 토대로 = A Study on Social and Cultural Phenomenon through the Yugoslavian Film in the Period of Socialist System Transformation: Based on the Analysis of International History

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Former Yugoslavia area had to suffer a lot of pain due to the rise of ‘cultural nationalism,’ political and economic disruption, division of the federation, and civil wars. The purpose of this study is to analyze the social and cultural phenomenon reflected within Yugoslavian films during the period of socialist system transition through analyzing international history. Yugoslavian movies, produced before and after the period of socialist system transition, raised the interest of the public and showed the social and cultural phenomenons at that time. As a result, Yugoslavian films gained interest and appreciation from the international community. Yugoslavian films that were produced in the 1980s mainly dealt with the ‘reevaluation work on Tito,’ developed after Tito’s death, and ‘contradiction of the socialist system.’ Therefore, these films were able to attract high interest from the West and western film festivals at the height of the Cold War. In the 1990s, Yugoslavian films sought to convey to the public the suffering from the collapse of the federation and civil wars, the ‘anti-warmessage’ with the fear of ‘reappearance of historical horror,’ and the hope of ‘reconciliation and harmony,’ those of which have become the background for Yugoslavian films, receiving international society’s attention once again.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

체제 전환기 유고는 ‘문화적 민족주의’ 대두, 정치, 경제적 혼란 그리고 연방분열과 계속된 내전들로 인해 여러 고통과 아픔을 겪어야 했고, 이것은 일반 대중들의 삶과 정체성 변화에 심각한 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구의 목적은 유고 영화들에 비친 국제사적 함의를 통해 체제 전환기 유고 지역 내 대중들의 사회, 문화상을 분석하는 데 있다. 체제 전환기를 전후로 제작된 유고 영화들은 유고 내 대중들의 관심을 높이고 동시대 사회, 문화상을 그대로 보여줌으로써 국제 사회로부터 높은 관심과 호평을 이끌었다. 1980년대 제작된 유고 영화는 티토 사후 전개된 ‘티토 재평가 작업’ 그리고 이를 토대로 가능해진 ‘사회주의 체제 모순 고발’ 소재들을 통해 당시 블록 간 체제 경쟁 속에 서구 세계와 영화제들로부터 높은 관심을 얻어낼 수 있었다. 1990년대 연방 붕괴와 내전으로 고통을 받던 시기, 유고 영화들은 각 민족의 가슴 깊숙이 내재된 ‘역사적 공포 재현’에 대한 두려움을 표출함과 동시에 ‘민족 간 화해와 화합의 소망’이 내재된 ‘반전(反戰) 메시지’ 또한 대중들에게 전달하고자 했다. 혼란스러운 사회와 문화 현상의 영화 투영 그리고 영화에 비친 사회, 문화상 반영을 통해 체제 전환기 유고 영화는 다시 한번 국제 영화계와 국제 사회의 주목을 받게 된다.
