This present study will demonstrate how the famous Chilean Avant-Garde poet Vicente Huidobro (1893-1948) creates things that never have existed before in his Avant-Garde prose “Salvad vuestros ojos, novela posthistorica” (1931), just like he already did in his Avant-Garde poems. First, it will show how Huidobro brought his literary experimentation of Creationism into this scarcely acknowledged Avant-Garde prose. Then, it will demonstrate how it is predestined to fail in its Avant-Garde project of the dehumanization of arte due to the impossibility to create things perfectly independent of the human world. After tracing the success and the failure in his Avant-Garde project in prose, this work will discuss whether the poetic purpose of Huidobro was to dehumanize the art, or to (re)humanize things and reality through the language, which will also awake the manneristic readers of the modern world by making them to actively participate in the construction of the narrative.
