      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      The author intended to trace the status on the Koreanization in the text-books those compilated during 1897-1910.
      To analyze and classify the transcriptions, the author selected 38 kinds of text-books from 325 kinds under the following procedures.
      1) As an analytical basis, contrastive classifications were made between foreign words and their equivalent Korean spellings.
      2) To classify the transcription, transcription on vowel letters and consonant letters were reviewed separately.
      3) Arrangement of vowel-consonant letters were made with alphabetical orders.
      4) Examples of the practical transcriptions were presented in chronological orders.
      Throughout the study, the author obtained the following points.
      (1) Transcriptions to the foreign words were irregular among text-books.
      (2) Authors or compilators of the text-books has no intensions to the systematic transcriptions on the foreign words.
      (3) Basis on the Koreanization were held to the English spellings to the foreign words, and accordingly, English pronunciation were kept in the Koreanization.
      (4) Japanese pronunciation to the foreign words was used in the Koreanization in various text-books those compilated by "Japanese-educated" authors.
