As gas barrier films achieved a long protective period for packaged products, it was utilized in various fields such as pharmaceuticals, flexible electronics and food packaging industries. In the packaging industries, the main purpose is to protect the food from microbial and chemical contamination, oxygen, water vapour and light for a long time. The reduction of oxygen, moisture sorption, and diffusion can suppress internal damage and improve long-term performance. Therefore, barrier films must prevent or at least decrease the gas/moisture transfer between the product and the surrounding atmosphere. In this work, we have tried to improve of barrier property by using clay of various sizes in PVA polymer matrix. The composites films were prepared to reduce the oxygen affinity by interactions and arrangement, dispersion of intramolecular structure between PVA matrix and clay of various sizes.
