루터와 제자도－ 교리문답에 관한 덕 윤리의 조망을 중심으로 = Martin Luther on Discipleship: A Virtue Ethical Reading on Catechisms

국문 초록 (Abstract)

‘제자도’의 역사에서 루터의 기여는 무엇인가? 이 글은 덕 윤리를 통하여 루터의 제자도를 다시 읽어낸다. 루터가 아리스토텔레스에 능통했다는 점, 그리고 매킨타이어의 현대 덕 윤리가 아리스토텔레스에 대한 향수를 지닌다는 점에 착안하였다. 루터는 아리스토텔레스의 영향을 받은 중세 덕 윤리와 공로주의를 거부하고 덕 윤리의 개혁을 통하여 ‘수도원에 들어간 제자도’로부터 ‘일상으로 돌아온 제자도’를 추구하여 제자도의 본질을 회복하고자 했다. 루터의  대교리문답 과  소교리문답 은 이 주제의 구체적인 사례로서, 일상에서 그리스도의 제자로 훈련시키려는 관심이 담겨있다. 루터는 십자가 신학에 근거하여 ‘악덕과 덕에 관한 개혁’을 이루어 내고 제자도의 회복을 추구했다. 루터가 일상의 제자도를 강조한 것은 의의가 크지만, 일상에서의 타자성과 공공성의 구현이라는 사회적 영성에 대한 관심으로 이어져야 할 과제도 지니고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article re-reads Luther’s discipleship through virtue ethics. It focused on the fact that Luther was fluent in Aristotle and that the modern virtue ethics represented by McIntyre had nostalgia for Aristotle. Luther rejected the medieval virtue ethics influenced by Aristotle and the meritocracy embedded therein, and through the reform of virtue ethics, he pursued the ‘discipleship that returned to everyday life.’ Luther’s Large Catechism and Small Catechism are concrete examples of this topic, and contain an interest in training Christians to be disciples of Christ in daily lives. The catechisms show that Luther presented virtue ethics based on the theology of the cross. It is significant that Luther emphasized on the discipleship of daily life, but it also has the task of concern for social spirituality including otherness and publicness.
