The Covid-19 pandemic is facing changes in economic structure across all sectors of the world, including politics, economy, society and culture.
In Korea, a rapid industrial structure changes are also underway due to a decrease in trade, a domestic economic slump and an increase in unemployment.
Pandemic caused the unprecedented situation of non-face-to-face social distancing and accelerated an innovation in economic activities.
In particular, industrial sites have emerged the importance of digital transformation, and high-tech devices such as ICT and AI are not only needed throughout the industry, but also actual industrial changes are required.
The Ppuri industry, which is the most base of the industrial site, is also demanding a change in its approach, so it is necessary to reconfirm the foundation of the Ppuri industry and examine the possibility of sustainable growth.

The Ppuri technology refers to a technology that is used throughout the manufacturing industry such as casting, molding, plastic processing, welding, surface treatment, and heat treatment, which is prescribed by Presidential Decree.

Ppuri industries refer to "Industry prescribed by Presidential Decree as an industry that uses Ppuri technology to carry out business or equipment manufacturing sector that is used for Ppuri technology.

The rapid development of information processing technology is calling for a change in the traditional root industry environment. The future industry that combines digital technology is the combination of electric vehicles, eco-friendly cars, bio, drones, displays, 5G communication technologies, and AI, and is a growth main industry that leads the future. Like this, the future new industries are based on basic process technologies and fuse digital technologies. Since the Ppuri industry is a manufacturing industry based on basic process technology, it has no choice but to play the most basic and pivotal role in the development of the future new industries.

In July 2011, the government enacted the “Act on the Promotion of Ppuri Industry and Advanced Technology” and established the National Ppuri Industry Promotion Center in March 2012. Government ministries, such as the Ministry of Industry and SMEs and Startups, are entrusted with the “business on the development of the Ppuri industry” and are carrying out government-focused projects.
In order to foster the Ppuri industry in the Jeollabuk-do region, the “Ordinance on the Promotion and Fostering of the Ppuri Industry in Jeollabuk-do” was enacted in 2013, and the “The 1st Jeonbuk Ppuri Industry Comprehensive Development Plan (2015-2017)”, the 2nd Jeonbuk Ppuri Industry Comprehensive Development plan (2018～2020), the 3rd Jeonbuk Ppuri Industry Comprehensive Development Plan (2021～2023) has been established and the project is being carried out.

Therefore, after analyzing the current status and policies of the local Ppuri industry through a general review of the Ppuri industry, this thesis will present the current status, policies and implications of the Ppuri industry in Jeollabuk-do, and would like to provide a customized support strategies for the sustainable development of Ppuri industries in Jeollabuk-do.
