연극 구술사 연구 및 활용에 관한 고찰 = A Reflection on the Oral History of Theater: Its Study and Application

국문 초록 (Abstract)

구술사는 중심에서 주변부로, 정치에서 사회로의 인식론적 전환과 문화사적 전환에서 쓰이는 역사다. 하여 연극 구술사는 연극역사를 한 연극인의 삶과 경험을 통해 발견하며, 연극사적 사건과 현상에 대해 비주류적인 관점을 획득하는 연극 미시사의 길을 걷는다. 연극 구술사의 실제는 연극인의 경험을 역사화하는 것에 있다. 구술자의 경험의 존재 여부와 기억이 역사적 사실의 사실성을 결정한다. 경험적 진술의 사실성은 구술자의 주관적인 성찰과 해석을 동반한다. 구술사의 생래적 특성이자 문제점인 주관성에서 연극 구술사 연구는 구술이 그대로 기록되는 기초 연구와 그 기초 연구의 결과물인 구술채록문과 다른 자료들의 교차검토가 이루어지는 후속 연구로 나뉜다. 후속 연구로는 연극연구의 미시적 주제들과 연극사 새로 쓰기 외에 기초 연구의 텍스트 전체를 활용하는 전기적 연구가 있다. 그 전기적 연구는 한 연극인의 생애와 예술창작의 깊은 곳에까지 탐구의 추를 내린다.

Oral history arises from epistemological and cultural-historical changes that shift the focus from the center to the periphery of politics and society. The oral history of theater gains its substance through the lives and experiences of minor theater artists capturing their personal dimensions of theatrical events and phenomena. Consequently, it aligns closely with the principles of microhistory. Subjective experience and recollections of theater artists determine the reality of historical facts. A study based on oral history is inherently subjective, encompassing both foundational research and follow-up studies, including biographical research that leverages the full text of a foundational research. Biographical study delves into the depths of the lives of theater artists and their works.
