ISIS에 의한 현대판 딤미제도에 대한 고찰과 테러극복을 위한 화해 = 이슬람주의와 이슬람에 대한 시각을 바탕으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

테러에 의한 피해는 이제 먼 나라 이야기가 아니라 언제든 대한민국에서도 일어날 수 있는 안보의 위협이 되고 있다. 테러와 관련된 익명의 피해들을 바라보면서 이슬람에 대한 적대감과 이슬람 포비아에 수동적으로 머물 것이 아니라, 이슬람주의자들 혹은 이슬람 극단주의자들이 보여주고 있는 테러와 지하드는 이슬람과 어떤 연관성이 있는지 알아야 한다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 이슬람과 이슬람주의에 대한 설명과 함께 테러를 만행하고 있는 ISIS의 글로벌화된 조직(보코하람과 말레이군도)과 실체, 현대사회에서 일으키고 있는 문제들에 대해서 살펴보도록 한다. 그리고 이러한 이슬람주의자들의 정신적 토대가 되고 있는 살라피운동의 정신적 토대를 놓은 이븐 타이미야의 사상과 영향력에 대해서 살펴보면서, 지금 ISIS가 행하고 있는 노예제, 비무슬림들과 소수민족에 대한 학살과 인질극 등은 이슬람의 역사 가운데 딤미제도와 어떤 연관성을 가지고 있는지를 설명하고자 한다. 비무슬림들과 소수민족들에게 불평등한 대우를 하거나 납세를 요구하고 학살을 하면서 현대판 노예제를 재현하고 있는 ISIS의 왜곡된 정치적 측면에 대해서 지적하면서 이슬람의 근원적인 정신과 관용에 호소하고자 한다. 또한 종교간의 대화와 이해를 바탕으로 이슬람과 기독교가 평화에 대한 실천을 함께 해나가자고 주장했던 한스 큉의 이론을 언급하면서, 하나님의 선교적 관점에서 기독교인들이 이슬람을 적대시하는 것이 아니라 그들을 화해의 자리로, 화평의 복음에로 적극적으로 초대하자는 말로 결론을 맺는다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

ISIS known as Daesh (the arabic acronym of al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-Sham) became the enemies of world leaders. ISIS displays the hostile image of Islam and brings about Islam-phobism, so the Islamic scholars in the 120 countries sent letters to the leader of ISIS and gave warnings. This group’s genealogy of the concept of Islamic State extends back to the first century of Islam and also linked to Salafi Jihadism or Salafi movement. Ibn Taymiyyah, Islamic scholar and theologian in 13 century, declared Jihad against non-Muslims and became a great influence in contemporary Wahhabism, Salafism, and Jihadism. His teachings and practice also became the theological foundation of Islamic revival during the Medieval age. ISIS commits crimes and practices sex slavery in the name of Allah and the Islamic faith. The cause of the unbelievers enslaved and violated by ISIS can be found in a historical term Dhimmi referring to non Muslim citizens under the Islamic States. Dhimmis status were usually applied to Jews, Christians, and Sabians and later to other religious people. They had certain restrictions and had to pay obligatory taxes the jizya (a poll-tax) and the kharāj. The conditions of non-Muslims under ISIS can be compared with dhimmi communities subject to Islamic law, Sharia. Therefore, this article examined the historical origins of ISIS’s practice and suggested the solutions of preventing terror and conflicts between different religious group with regards to Hans Küng’s insist on how to coexist Islam and other religions peacefully.
