The purpose of this study lies in offering the basic data that revealing the excellence of participation in football clubs by analyzing the relationship between the elementary students' joining in football clubs with their adaption to class teachers, to classmates, to school leaning, to school rules, to school events which are the subordinate factors to the adaptation to school life.
To achieve such purpose, this study selected the students in their 4.5.6 grades in the elementary schools in Hwaseong city, and extracted the samples using stratified cluster random sampling and then randomly assigned 5 elementary schools in Hwaseong city and selected finally total 200 students, 40 per school.
Frequency analysis, one way-ANOVA, t-test, multiple regression analysis were carried out as the statistical techniques for the data analysis following the purpose of this study. Such study method and procedure were used for the analysis on the effect of the elementary students' joining football clubs on their adaptation to school life and the following are the results.
First, the analysis on the differences in adaptation of elementary students to school life by demographic characteristics showed statistically significant difference for the adaptation to school events, to school rules, to school learning by grade. It was found out that the lower grade they were, the higher their adaptation to school life. The adaptation to school learning by demographic characteristics, their parental academic background, those students under graduate school graduated parents were higher than under university graduated parents and the adaptation to classmates also showed the same result.
Second, the survey of the adaptation to school life due to whether they join the football clubs or not showed a considerable difference in adaptation to class teachers, to classmates, to school leaning, to school events, and the adaptation of the participating clubs to school life was higher compared with that of non participating clubs
Third, the elementary students' frequency of joining in football clubs has significant effect on the adaptation to school life, and statistically significant differences were detected in the adaptation to school learning, to school rules, to school events due to the variables in the adaptation to school life, and the participation frequency has the greatest effect among the rest.
