      We are living in a flood of various mass media. The contents of mass media such as Tv, movies, video films and computers are showing a tendency of becoming more violent and inflammatory. The destructive environment for adolescents caused by illegal or deleterious video films of diskettes are constantly on the increase. From a social point of view, adolescent delinquency is showing an increase trend, developing a rapid downtrend for this age group. It is true that mass media is always considered as a main casual factor for this phenomenon. But the opposition logic for this is weak and it is deemed that we are at a state where a conviction is far from enough.
      In 1992, 429 foreign movie films and 2,009 video films were imported by The Korea Public Performance Ethics Committee. Out of this, 31 movie films and 93 video films were rejected and over 50% of the total number of films were approved after revising controversial scenes.
      A devoted execution of the deliberation function and a through supervision of mass media for adolescents are in demand. The supervising function on media that can be viewed repeatedly such as TV, videos and computers need to be carried out more actively as a social movement.
      As solution for this problem we must, first af all, refrain from negative attitude telling our adolescents, "Don't watch this kind.", "That is absolutely forbidden", instead we need to shift our attitudes in positive direction telling them. "Hey, watch this." Homes, schools and the society on the whole must make a total and a systematic effort to recommend highly superior materials, to develop programs such as movements to watch good films, and to develop our adolescents ability to select good pieces on their own and the strength to understand and overcome the materials.
      We must deliver our adolescents from the harmful influences of mass media which is developmentally taking a major role in our life, by carrying out education and social education to promote the values that mass media has from its genuine function aspect.
      The guidance, supervision and participation on the part of guardians at home is the most important. This is due to the difficulties in judging harmful films and variability of feelings and farm according to an individual's viewing environment, personal psychological state, cultivation, ets...
